Fijian Hotelier Reflects on 25 Years and Eyes a Return Home

Ravinder Dhesi, a Fijian national and the general manager of JW Marriott Gold Coast, expressed his desire to return to Fiji if the opportunity arises. As he celebrates 25 years with the Marriott Group this month, Dhesi reflected on his journey that began after obtaining his Bachelor of Business degree in Sydney, which led him to become a general manager of a luxury hotel in Australia.

Dhesi’s hospitality career took off when he started as a graduate accountant, tasked with auditing Sheraton Fiji in 1993, a place that holds significant personal value for him. Recently visiting the resort, he experienced a wave of nostalgia, as familiar staff members greeted him warmly, recalling his local roots and successful career.

He shared his excitement about his journey and hopes it inspires fellow Fijians by emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the Marriott brand. With a vast portfolio of Marriott hotels in Fiji, Dhesi is eager about the prospect of nurturing local talent and contributing to the hospitality industry back home, firmly stating that Fiji will always be his true home.
