Ravinder Dhesi, a Fijian national and general manager of JW Marriott Gold Coast, expressed his desire to return to Fiji if the opportunity arises. This month marks his 25th anniversary with the Marriott Group.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Dhesi noted that after graduating with a Bachelor of Business degree in Sydney, he never anticipated becoming the general manager of a luxury five-star hotel in Australia. He embraced various career opportunities that came his way.
His connection to Fiji runs deep, as he recalls his first day as a graduate accountant assigned to audit Sheraton Fiji in 1993, which he considers a significant milestone in his career. Recently visiting the resort, he experienced a wave of nostalgia as former colleagues greeted him affectionately, recognizing his success in the hospitality industry.
Mr. Dhesi emphasized that he hopes his journey serves as inspiration for fellow Fijians and expressed his enthusiasm for continuing his career within the Marriott family. He acknowledged the extensive portfolio of Marriott hotels in Fiji and stated his intention to support local talent and foster opportunities for Fijians in hospitality, reaffirming that Fiji will always be home for him.
