A prominent investment firm in Fiji, Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL), recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special event at the RB Convention Centre in Lami. This significant occasion not only marked four decades of growth and achievements but also honored the company’s valued shareholders and its founding members, who played an essential role in establishing FHL as a cornerstone in promoting iTaukei participation in the corporate world.
The celebration followed the Group’s Annual General Meeting for 2024, where Group CEO Jaoji Koroi emphasized the importance of reflecting on FHL’s journey over the last four decades. He acknowledged the contributions of key figures in its history, including the Great Council of Chiefs, the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, and former managing director the late Laisenia Qarase.
During the event, Mr. Koroi highlighted some impressive milestones reached in the 2024 financial year. FHL’s total assets now exceed $700 million, with net assets valued at $323 million and record profits reaching $70 million. Over $130 million has been distributed to shareholders in dividends, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to rewarding its investors. Mr. Koroi noted that longtime shareholders are reaping significant benefits from their initial investments.
However, he also pointed out the ongoing challenge of broadening their focus beyond current shareholders toward empowering iTaukei resource owners through the company’s various initiatives.
