Fiji’s prominent investment company, Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL), proudly celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special event at the RB Convention Centre in Lami on Thursday. The milestone event honored the company’s extensive history, its dedicated shareholders, and the key figures who have significantly contributed to FHL’s evolution into a leading institution aimed at enhancing the participation of iTaukei people in the corporate arena.

This celebration followed the Group’s Annual General Meeting for 2024, providing an opportunity to reflect on the past four decades. Group CEO Jaoji Koroi emphasized the importance of acknowledging the founding contributors to Fijian Holdings, including the Great Council of Chiefs, the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, and former managing director Laisenia Qarase.

During the event, Mr. Koroi shared some impressive figures reflecting FHL’s success in the 2024 financial year. The company has seen its total assets surpass $700 million, with net assets valued at $323 million and a record profit of $70 million. To date, FHL has distributed over $130 million in dividends to its shareholders. Mr. Koroi noted that early investors would be enjoying significant returns on their investments now.

He also addressed the company’s future, stating that while existing shareholders have benefited, there’s a challenge to extend opportunities to iTaukei resource owners and empower them through newly announced strategies.

Overall, the celebration not only marked a significant anniversary but also underscored the company’s commitment to continued growth and community involvement, particularly with the iTaukei population, showcasing a hopeful outlook for future initiatives.

This anniversary serves as a reminder of the positive impact that thoughtful leadership and strategic empowerment can have within a community and the corporate sector at large.
