The Super Rugby Pacific Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) has ruled that Motikiai Murray, flanker for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, committed a dangerous tackle during a match against the ACT Brumbies on March 14, 2025. This incident, which took place in the 79th minute, led to an immediate red card being issued.
Upon review, the committee confirmed the red card and established a mid-range suspension entry point of six weeks, in accordance with Law 9.13, which addresses dangerous tackles. However, due to Murray’s admission of guilt and his previously clean disciplinary history, the committee opted for a 50% reduction, resulting in a three-week ban for the player.
Murray will therefore miss significant matches against the Western Force, Crusaders, and Highlanders, and will also be ineligible to participate in the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.
