The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition revealed exciting plans for the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women, who will have the chance to host two matches. If they secure a top two finish during the regular season, they could host a potential semi-final in Fiji.

Adding to the thrill, this season marks the introduction of the first-ever Super Rugby Champions final, where the victors of Super Rugby W will battle the champions of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.

On March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, the Drua will go head-to-head against the Reds in Lautoka at Churchill Park. This match will be part of an exhilarating double header, with kickoff slated for 1:05 PM, followed by a match between the Drua Men and the Chiefs at 3:30 PM.

The following week, on March 15, the Drua Women will face the formidable Brumbies Women in a standalone match at 3:30 PM, setting the stage for another thrilling showdown in Lautoka.

The Fijian Drua Women are set to kick off the season against the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on February 28. They will then return home to play against the Reds and Brumbies, with their final regular-season match against the Western Force on March 23 in Perth.

The Super Rugby W semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of April 5, with the top two teams earning the right to host, culminating in the Grand Final on April 12. A cross-final match between the champions of Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Aupiki is slated for April 17.

Mark Evans, the chief executive officer of Fijian Drua, expressed a strong ambition to reclaim their championship title after previously winning in 2022 and 2023, and finishing as runners-up in 2024. He noted, “We’re in a rebuilding phase for our women’s programme this year. We have a new interim head coach who is focused on increasing depth and enhancing our player pool.”

Significant investments have been made in the women’s programme facilities during the off-season, aiming to provide the Drua Women with optimal preparation for their upcoming season. Evans emphasized the joy of hosting matches in Fiji, stating, “Having the Drua Women take the field on International Women’s Day is particularly exciting for us, and we are already planning to make that day special for our fans.”

This initiative not only showcases the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji but also offers an opportunity for the community to engage with and support their teams. Fans can look forward to a memorable season filled with competitive spirit and local pride.
