The Fijian Drua has announced the addition of national under-20 players Breyton Legge and John Muller to the club’s Development programme for the 2025 season. This programme serves as a key pathway to the main Super Rugby Pacific team.
Legge, a loosehead prop, has represented the Fiji Under 20 team in nine matches since 2022 and participated in the recent U20 World Rugby Championship held in South Africa. He expressed his excitement by stating, “It feels great. I’ve always dreamed of playing for my country and playing in the Super Rugby competition.”
Muller, who also competed in the U20 World Cup in 2021, was part of the Fiji Warriors team that triumphed in the Pacific Rugby Cup in 2023. Additionally, he served as captain of the Northland rugby team during the local provincial season. He shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It is a dream come true and I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the Fijian Drua. I can’t wait to start training with the team.”
Ifereimi Rawaqa, the Fijian Drua Development and Skills Coach, commented on the new signings, noting that both players come from Fiji Rugby’s High-Performance Unit programme and expressed satisfaction with their transition into Drua Development. He highlighted their potential contribution, stating, “They bring good depth into our props.”
Rawaqa went on to describe Legge as a talented and keen learner, while praising Muller for his hard work and aggressive style in both offense and defense. He expressed confidence that with further professional development through Drua, both players will successfully advance to the next level.
In recent years, several development players, including Livai Natave, Philip Baselala, Taniela Rakuro, Motikiai Murray, Mesake Vocevoce, and Sikeli Rabitu, have been promoted to Super Rugby Pacific contracts.
