Fijian Drua Welcomes Rising Star Vuate Karawalevu!

The Fijian Drua has officially announced the signing of utility back Vuate Karawalevu to a full-time contract. The 23-year-old recently made his debut for the Flying Fijians during the Pacific Nations Cup match against Samoa, marking a significant milestone as he becomes a double international.

Karawalevu previously represented the Fiji Bati national rugby league team at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England when he was just 20 years old. In the match against Samoa, he showcased his skills by playing at full-back, scoring a try, and contributing to Fiji’s convincing 42-16 victory.

Last season, Karawalevu played in Super Rugby Pacific with the NSW Waratahs. He started his rugby journey at Marist Brothers High School, playing as first five-eighth for Naitasiri, helping them reach the grand final in the Skipper Cup 2020 competition.

Following his time in Fiji, he joined the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup, as well as the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup, and was involved with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL.

Karawalevu expressed excitement about returning home to join the Drua, emphasizing his eagerness to play for his home team and his motivation to perform for the fans. “I feel incredibly excited and blessed to join this new club. It’s an honour to play for my home team, and I can’t wait to give it my all on the field. I’m ready for this new chapter and grateful for the opportunity to represent where I come from,” he stated.
