The Fijian Drua rugby club has appointed Josaia Moimoi as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding Shafina Dean, who has left to pursue further educational opportunities in New Zealand. Moimoi, hailing from Vanuabalavu in Lau, comes with over a decade of experience in the financial services sector and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Management, along with qualifications in Organisational Behaviour from Brigham Young University in Hawaii.
Before joining the Drua, Moimoi served as the Financial Management Specialist at the U.S. Embassy. Fijian Drua’s CEO, Mark Evans, expressed confidence in Moimoi’s capabilities, noting that he stood out among a rigorous selection process with both local and international candidates. Evans also extended gratitude to the departing CFO for her contributions to the club.
Moimoi himself expressed gratitude for the opportunity and a deep sense of responsibility regarding his new role. He highlighted the chance to make a positive impact on the economy, stating that his experience with the Drua transcends traditional finance work, allowing him to contribute to the rugby community as a source of pride and aspiration for Fijians. He looks forward to collaborating with the team to elevate the club even further.
This leadership change signifies a promising new chapter for the Fijian Drua as it seeks to strengthen its financial oversight and impact within the community. With Moimoi’s extensive background, the club is well-positioned to drive growth and inspire hope among its supporters.
