The Fijian Drua and the Pacific Fishing Company Pte Limited (PAFCO) have announced an exciting collaboration to host the inaugural Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament next month. This event marks the beginning of a three-year sponsorship agreement, making the Sun Bell 10s an annual fixture for the duration of the partnership.
Fijian Drua Chief Executive Mark Evans expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming PAFCO as part of their sponsor family, highlighting the company’s longstanding reputation that has resonated with Fijians for over 50 years. He remarked, “It is wonderful for us to welcome an organization like the Pacific Fishing Company to our family of sponsors. Children in Fiji grew up reading about PAFCO and their important contribution to Fiji’s economy. We are grateful for their support of the Fijian Drua.”
In a show of mutual appreciation, PAFCO Chief Executive Saiyad Raiyum shared his excitement about supporting Fijian Drua rugby. He stated, “We are proud to be associated with the Fijian Drua and support our teams in the Super Rugby Pacific competition. With a brand (Sun Bell) that has been around for 50 years, we are ecstatic to become a nutritional partner for the Drua teams.”
The tournament promises to be a vibrant event, featuring eight teams: two from the Drua and six provincial teams. Pool A will see Fijian Drua Blue, Yasawa Rugby, Nadroga Rugby, and Lautoka Rugby compete, while Pool B consists of Fijian Drua White, Malolo Rugby, Nadi Rugby, and Ba Rugby. Additionally, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s team will also participate, with two internal matches slated for the day.
The event is set to take place at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Friday, December 13th.
This partnership not only enhances the sporting landscape in Fiji but also signifies a growth in community engagement through sports, fostering local talent and encouraging healthy competition. The Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament is poised to become a significant event on the Fijian sports calendar, bringing together teams and supporters from across the region.
