The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has unveiled its squad for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby season, featuring 32 talented Flying Fijians, including the national co-captain. This announcement, made today, concludes a fruitful off-season recruitment campaign that sees all five new additions being Flying Fijians expected to greatly influence the upcoming competition. Notably, three members of the squad are Silver Medallists from the Rugby 7s at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Drua’s development squad highlights a promising group of young Fijian talents poised for future success. Head Coach Glen Jackson expressed confidence in the team’s balance, noting minimal player departures from the previous year and emphasizing the experience brought in by new signings, particularly Joe Tamani, who returns from France.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, the Fijian Drua has appointed co-captains: hooker Tevita Ikanivere and halfback Frank Lomani. Ikanivere, who has significant leadership experience and holds the record for the most Drua appearances (38), expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. Lomani, the most seasoned player in the squad, shared his enthusiasm about the co-captaincy, recognizing the team’s journey since its inception.

The squad is bolstered by experienced recruits like 50-Test capped Flying Fijian Peni Ravai and tough centre Inia Tabuavou. Additionally, Vuate Karawalevu returns to Fiji after his time with the NSW Waratahs, and Ponipate Loganimasi joins after a standout performance in the recent Pacific Nations Cup.

The Fijian Drua showcases a robust roster, with Flying Fijians forming the core of the squad. The combination of experienced players and emerging talent sets a promising foundation for the upcoming season.

Summary: The Fijian Drua has announced a strong 2025 squad featuring returning stars and fresh talent, led by newly appointed co-captains Tevita Ikanivere and Frank Lomani. With a focus on youth and experience, the team aims to make a significant impact in the upcoming Super Rugby season.

This setup not only reflects the Drua’s commitment to fostering local talent but also showcases the resiliency and strength of Fijian rugby on an international platform. With optimism in the air, fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead!
