The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has unveiled its 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby squad, which comprises 32 players, all of whom are Flying Fijians, including national co-captain Tevita Ikanivere. Today’s announcement highlights a successful off-season recruitment strategy, introducing five new signings, all expected to significantly contribute to the team’s performance in the upcoming season.

Among the squad members are three recent Silver Medalists from Rugby Sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The development squad is also featuring promising young Fijian players who are on track for future opportunities in higher honors.

Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson expressed his satisfaction with the composition of the squad: “It’s a very well-balanced side. We haven’t lost many players from last year, and the new recruits bring valuable experience, mostly from overseas.” Notably, Joe Tamani is returning after a year in France, injecting excitement back into the lineup.

Tevita Ikanivere leads the team alongside halfback Lomani, both of whom have a history of leadership within the Drua. Ikanivere’s track record is impressive, holding the record for the most appearances (38) and being the second-highest try scorer (10 tries) for the team. He also played a vital role in the national team’s recent historic win against Wales.

Lomani, the most experienced player in the squad with 53 appearances, is also one of two players to have accumulated over 100 Super Rugby Pacific points. He shared his heartfelt reaction to the captaincy: “I’m really excited and pretty emotional… this team has come a long way.”

The squad is further strengthened by seasoned players like Peni Ravai, who has earned 50 Test caps, and Inia Tabuavou, bringing additional depth and talent. Young stars such as Vuate Karawalevu and Ponipate Loganimasi also join the squad, promising excitement on the field.

With a robust lineup, including all-four returning halfbacks and new talents across various positions, the Fijian Drua is preparing for another challenging season. Their squad contains a mix of experience and enthusiasm, with a backrow featuring several dedicated players.

As they embark on the 2025 season, the Fijian Drua exemplifies resilience and determination, setting a hopeful tone for their journey ahead. Their commitment to continual development and inclusivity of both seasoned players and emerging talents showcases a bright future for the team in what promises to be an exhilarating season of rugby.
