The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are preparing for an intense forward battle as they gear up to take on the New South Wales Waratahs this week. Head coach Glen Jackson emphasized the importance of the scrum and forward pack in determining the outcome of the match, stating that his team is ready to match the Waratahs’ strength head-on.

After a challenging start to the season, Jackson has instilled a straightforward approach in the squad: meet fire with fire. He recognizes the immense talent in the Waratahs’ backline, filled with world-class players and Wallabies, yet believes the foundation of their success will hinge on the performance of the forwards.

“The Waratahs have an outstanding backline, but this match will be won in the forward pack, and our boys are fired up for it,” Jackson remarked. Moreover, he noted the historical rivalry between the two teams, which adds an extra layer of motivation for the Drua as they prepare to confront their opponents both physically and mentally. “There is plenty of history regarding what the Waratahs have said and done with us. We are taking that on board and we are looking forward to winning that battle,” he added.

The Drua coaching staff has also recognized notable tactical adjustments in the Waratahs’ play this season, led by new coach Dan McKellar. The Sydney-based team has adopted a revised attacking structure and heightened defensive intensity, marked by a quick line speed that places considerable pressure on their opponents.

While recognizing the Waratahs’ pace and talent on the wings, Jackson stressed that the Drua’s priority is to first match their physicality before addressing the threat posed by the opposing backline.

The match is set to kick off tomorrow at 8:35 PM, and fans can catch the live action on FBC Sports. With both teams eager for victory and a fierce rivalry at play, this clash promises to be an exhilarating encounter.
