Iosefo Masi, a standout center for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, is set to make a strong return for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season after recovering from a knee injury sustained during the Pacific Nations Cup. Masi shared his enthusiasm for being back on the training field, stating that he is currently in the second week of training, expressing his love for the process.

The 26-year-old missed significant matches, including the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan and the subsequent Europe Tour in November. However, his commitment to fitness and training bodes well for his performance in the upcoming season.

In addition, Joe Tamani, the tall backrower known as ‘Smokin’ Joe,’ is also coming back to the Drua after a year with Colomiers Rugby Club in France’s ProD2 competition. Tamani has embraced a rigorous pre-season training regimen, stating that the tough seven weeks have allowed the team to get fit and ready for the new season. He reflected on his previous experience with the Drua, where they reached the quarterfinals in the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season and made his Test debut with the Flying Fijians.

Co-captain Frank Lomani expressed optimism about the Flying Fijians’ prospects for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. After their historic win against Wales in Cardiff, Lomani believes the team is on a positive trajectory as they prepare for the Super Rugby Pacific competition starting in February. He noted the importance of returning to the Drua setup and training for the upcoming season.

Overall, the returning players and the positive outlook from team leaders signify a bright future for the Fijian Drua as they continue to build on their successes and lessons learned from past competitions. Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead, showcasing resilience and determination.
