Fijian Drua forwards Vilive Miramira and Mesake Vocevoce have officially re-signed with their club, extending their contracts through to 2027. This commitment highlights their ambition to represent the Flying Fijians at the upcoming 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Miramira, who has been a part of the Drua since its inception in 2022, has made 36 appearances and scored three tries, showcasing his versatility as a player. He played for the Flying Fijians at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. Expressing his gratitude, Miramira stated, “I’m grateful and blessed to sign again with the Drua for the next few years. It’s a great club that means a lot to me and my family.”
Vocevoce, only 21 years old, has quickly made a name for himself in the Drua, logging 24 appearances in just two seasons. He earned the title of Pepsi Rookie of the Year in 2024 and recently scored his first try in a thrilling match against the Queensland Reds. Vocevoce has also represented the Flying Fijians, earning eight test caps since making his debut against Tonga last year.
Drua General Manager of Rugby Baden Stephenson expressed excitement about the re-signing of both players, commending their skill sets and physicality, which are crucial for the modern playing style in Super Rugby. This move not only strengthens the team’s depth in the forward pack but also aligns with the Drua’s strategic objective to nurture local talents as they aim for a successful future in the Super Rugby Pacific league.
With these key players committed to long-term contracts, the Fijian Drua stands poised for growth and promising performances in the coming seasons. Fans can look forward to an exhilarating season filled with potential and the unwavering spirit of Fijian rugby, especially with the young talents like Vocevoce alongside experienced players like Miramira leading the charge.
