The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has officially signed fullback Vuate Karawalevu to a full-time contract. Karawalevu recently made his debut for the Flying Fijians national team during the Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa, where he scored a try, contributing to Fiji’s 42-16 victory.
At 23 years old, Karawalevu showcased his talent in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific with the NSW Waratahs in 2024. His rugby journey also includes representing Fiji in Rugby League, where he played for the Fiji Bati at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
A graduate of Marist Brothers High School, he has played for teams like the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup, the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup, and has been involved with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL.
Karawalevu, who can play both fullback and wing positions, expressed enthusiasm about joining the Fijian Drua and playing in front of passionate fans. He stated, “I am incredibly excited and blessed to join this new club! It’s an honour to play for my home team, and I can’t wait to give it my all on the field.” He added that he is eager for this new chapter and grateful for the chance to represent his roots.
