Fijian Drua Signs Rising Star: Meet Vuate Karawalevu!

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has announced the signing of Vuate Karawalevu, the Flying Fijians fullback, on a full-time contract.

Karawalevu made his debut for the national 15s team during the Pacific Nations Cup against Samoa last Friday, where he scored a try in a strong performance that contributed to Fiji’s 42-16 victory.

At 23 years old, he has previously played for the NSW Waratahs in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific in 2024. Additionally, he represented Fiji in Rugby League, playing for the Fiji Bati at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

Having completed his studies at Marist Brothers High School, Karawalevu has also played for the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup, the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup, and has been part of the Sydney Roosters organization in the NRL.

Equally skilled as a fullback and wing, Karawalevu expressed his excitement about returning home to join the Fijian Drua and connecting with the passionate fans. He stated, “I’m incredibly excited and blessed to join this new club! It’s an honor to play for my home team, and I can’t wait to give it my all on the field. I am ready for this new chapter and grateful for the opportunity to represent where I come from.”
