Flying Fijians hooker Mesulame Dolokoto is set to captain the Fijian Drua in the 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens, which will be hosted in Sigatoka this week. He will be supported by a host of prominent players, including Olympic silver medalist Ponipate Loganimasi, Peni Matawalu, Ilaisa Droasese, Taniela Rakuro, and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre.

The squad also features promising talents from the Fijian U20 Drua Development team, namely Isikeli Rabitu, Isikeli Basiyalo, and Aisea Tuisese, indicating a blend of experience and youthful energy. This tournament serves as a vital component of the Drua’s pre-season strategy as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition.

Fiji 7s legend Waisale Serevi will take on the role of head coach, bringing his profound knowledge and experience to the team. Under his guidance, the Drua aims to showcase their skills and competitive spirit against formidable opponents.

The Fiji Coral Coast Sevens is renowned for featuring top local and international teams and has a rich history of attracting legendary rugby figures, including the late Jonah Lomu and George Gregan, who have previously participated in this prestigious event.

Jay Whyte, the chairman of the organizing committee, has expressed excitement about the Drua’s involvement, emphasizing the support the team enjoys from the Fijian public, with 55% of the nation watching their matches. The competition, running from January 16 to 18 at Lawaqa Park, promises to deliver high-caliber rugby and celebrate the spirit of the sport in Fiji.
