As the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua gear up for their fourth season in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition, head coach Glen Jackson emphasizes that expectations from fans are at an all-time high. After a thorough off-season dedicated to addressing last year’s shortcomings, Jackson is confident that the team is primed to deliver a strong performance.
Reflecting on a disappointing previous season, Jackson acknowledges the mistakes made but is optimistic about the efforts taken to improve. The coach expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, stating, “We are under no illusion that last year wasn’t our best. We made some mistakes, but we’ve put our hands up and rectified them, and we’re super excited for this year.” He believes that the team has a favorable draw and is eager to compete in front of passionate supporters across the nation.
The Drua will kick off their preparations with a pre-season match against the Skipper XV in February before formally starting their season at Churchill Park in Lautoka on February 14. With the dedication and resilience the team has shown in recent weeks, there is a strong sense of hope and anticipation for what lies ahead in the competitive season.
