Fijian Drua Players Score Scholarships at NZ’s Tauranga Boys College!

The Fijian Drua celebrates the achievement of two of its talented academy athletes, Seremaia Salikoro and Sefanaia Naqama, who have earned scholarships to the prestigious Tauranga Boys College in New Zealand. This initiative is part of a strategic partnership established by the Drua with the school.

Salikoro, who currently studies at Natabua High School, has been awarded a three-year scholarship, while Naqama, a student at Sila Central High School in Nausori, will receive a two-year scholarship. They were selected by Regan Ward, the coach of Tauranga Boys College’s First XV rugby team, along with Senior Rugby Coordinator Aidan Kuka, who identified the pair as outstanding candidates during their week-long visit with the Drua.

Baden Stephenson, the general manager of the Fijian Drua, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting that this experience will transform the lives of Salikoro and Naqama. He noted that both young athletes, at just 16 years old, will have the opportunity for an exceptional education, immerse themselves in a new culture, and train within an elite rugby environment. The players are expected to return to the Drua upon completing their studies.
