The Fijian Drua has partnered with the Pacific Fishing Company Pte Limited (PAFCO) to launch the inaugural Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament next month, marking an exciting development in Fijian rugby. This tournament is part of a three-year sponsorship agreement, making it an annual celebration for the next three years.
Fijian Drua Chief Executive Mark Evans expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with PAFCO, a company with a legacy spanning over 50 years. He highlighted the importance of PAFCO’s support for the team, noting that many children in Fiji grew up recognizing the company’s contributions to the nation’s economy.
PAFCO CEO Saiyad Raiyum shared similar feelings, emphasizing the company’s pride in supporting the Fijian Drua as they compete in the Super Rugby Pacific competition. Raiyum was particularly excited about their new role as nutritional partners for the Drua teams, reinforcing the positive impact of sport on health and well-being.
The tournament will feature eight teams, with two teams from Drua and six provincial teams competing in a fun-filled, one-day event. Pool A will include Fijian Drua Blue, Yasawa Rugby, Nadroga Rugby, and Lautoka Rugby, while Pool B will consist of Fijian Drua White, Malolo Rugby, Nadi Rugby, and Ba Rugby. Additionally, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s side will participate, showcasing internal matches as part of the festivities.
Scheduled for December 13th at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, this tournament not only promises exciting rugby but also serves to strengthen community ties and promote sportsmanship in Fiji.
In summary, the collaboration between the Fijian Drua and PAFCO heralds a promising future for local rugby, with community engagement and support playing pivotal roles in the development of the sport. This tournament not only celebrates rugby but also highlights the integration of sports, health, and local business partnerships, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among Fijians.
