The Fijian Drua rugby team has arrived in Kadavu for a focused one-week pre-season training camp. The squad has established its base at Namalata Village, the hometown of Nacanieli Cawanibuka, the team’s Head of Athletic Performance.

As part of their cultural protocols, the team will first pay respects to the village chief before commencing their first training session this afternoon. Lock forward Suliasi Vukaokalo expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming week, stating, “It’s going to be an exciting camp for us.” He emphasized that the change of environment will be beneficial, allowing the players to break free from distractions and make the most of their time together before the holiday break.

In addition, the Fijian Drua plans to play an exhibition match against the Kadavu Rugby Union team on Thursday, which will provide an excellent opportunity for the players to showcase their skills and gain valuable match experience ahead of the season.

This pre-season camp not only reinforces team bonding but also highlights the importance of embracing local customs, which can deepen their connection to the community and culture. Overall, this initiative reflects a positive development in the team’s preparations, setting a promising tone for the season ahead.
