Pacific Fishing Company Pte Limited (PAFCO) has officially become a sponsor of the Fijian Drua, bringing with it their well-known “Sun Bell” brand. This new partnership is marked by a three-year sponsorship agreement that includes the creation of the inaugural Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament.
The one-day tournament aims to showcase some of Fiji’s top provincial players, who will compete against members of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team. This exciting event is set to become an annual fixture, featuring two teams from the Drua alongside six teams from various provincial levels.
Mark Evans, CEO of Fijian Drua, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “Welcoming an organization like PAFCO into our sponsorship family is fantastic. Many children in Fiji grew up familiar with PAFCO and its significant contributions to our economy. We deeply appreciate their support and are eager to enhance Sun Bell’s visibility in Fiji, especially as PAFCO plays a vital role in the community, particularly in Ovalau. We look forward to engaging with our fans in Lomaiviti and supporting PAFCO’s initiatives.”
SAIYAD Raiyum, CEO of Pacific Fishing Company, also shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are proud to align ourselves with the Fijian Drua and support our teams in the Super Rugby Pacific competition. With a brand that has been part of Fiji’s heritage for fifty years, we are thrilled to be a nutritional partner for the Drua teams. Our canned products, made from pure tuna, are excellent meal options that will aid in the teams’ preparations for the upcoming seasons.”
This partnership demonstrates a promising synergy between a locally celebrated brand and a prominent sports team, ultimately benefiting both the players and the community.
This collaboration not only highlights the importance of local sponsorships in enhancing sports culture in Fiji but also underscores the positive impact such partnerships can have on community engagement and youth support in sports. As the Sun Bell Drua 10s tournament becomes an annual event, it will foster local talent and strengthen local pride in rugby, paving the way for brighter sporting futures.
