The Fijian Drua has officially arrived in Kadavu for a one-week pre-season training camp. The team has set up its base at Namalata Village, the residence of Fijian Drua’s Head of Athletic Performance, Nacanieli Cawanibuka.
As part of the camp’s initiation, the players will participate in traditional protocols honoring the village chief, with their first training session scheduled for this afternoon. Lock forward Suliasi Vukaokalo expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming week, stating, “It’s going to be an exciting camp for us.” He emphasized the benefits of this change in environment, indicating that stepping out of their comfort zones and eliminating distractions will enhance their focus and performance.
“This is an opportunity for us to maximize our time together before we break for the holidays,” Vukaokalo added. Additionally, the Fijian Drua is anticipated to compete in an exhibition match against the Kadavu Rugby Union team on Thursday, providing an exciting highlight to the training camp.
This pre-season camp not only strengthens team dynamics but also integrates local traditions, fostering a deeper connection with the community. Such initiatives are crucial in building morale and preparing the team for the upcoming season. With their dedication and unity, the Fijian Drua is set to make the most of this unique experience.
Overall, this camp represents a wonderful opportunity for the players to strengthen their skills and bond as a team while immersing themselves in Fijian culture.
