The second leg of the Fijian Cup rugby festival concluded yesterday, showcasing an exciting two-day event where local and international teams competed in rugby sevens at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

In the open men’s division, Island Magic Daveta emerged victorious, defeating Ratu Filise 19-7. They secured their spot in the final after a thrilling 10-all draw against Vunavutu in the semifinals. For the open women’s category, Tuva claimed a decisive 21-5 victory over the Full Send Pink, having displayed remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament.

In the under 85kg category, Tovolea showcased their strength with a hard-fought 12-7 win against Senibiau. Meanwhile, the legends category saw Nahigatoka triumph over Cuvu Black with a score of 17-7, adding to their celebratory atmosphere after overcoming challenges in earlier stages.

Pat Spellman, representing Tourism HQ, noted the importance of this tournament, emphasizing its role in fostering connections between local and international teams.

Looking ahead, the Fijian Cup will continue next week with rugby league nines at Lawaqa Park, promising more thrilling action for sports enthusiasts.
