The Fijian Cup rugby festival wrapped up its second leg yesterday, showcasing a thrilling two days of competition featuring local and international teams at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
In the open men’s category, Island Magic Daveta emerged victorious, defeating Ratu Filise with a score of 19-7 after a tightly contested semi-final against Vunavutu, which ended in a 10-all draw. The open women’s division saw Tuva deliver an impressive performance, overpowering Full Send Pink with a 21-5 defeat, advancing confidently from the pool stages into the elimination rounds.
In the under 85kg category, Tovolea secured a narrow 12-7 win over Senibiau, while Nahigatoka achieved a commendable victory against Cuvu Black in the legends category, finishing with a score of 17-7 despite earlier setbacks in the tournament.
Pat Spellman, representing Tourism HQ, emphasized the importance of the tournament for both local and international teams, highlighting its role in promoting rugby and creating opportunities for athletes.
