The Fijian Cup rugby festival wrapped up its second leg yesterday, featuring an exciting two-day event at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, where local and international teams showcased their skills in rugby sevens.

In the open men’s division, Island Magic Daveta emerged victorious against Ratu Filise with a score of 19-7, following a thrilling semi-final match that ended in a 10-all draw with Vunavutu.

In the women’s open category, Tuva triumphed over Full Send Pink, delivering a decisive 21-5 defeat after navigating through the pool stages with impressive performance.

The under 85kg category saw Tovolea secure a victory against Senibiau, finishing the match 12-7. Meanwhile, in the legends category, Nahigatoka bounced back triumphantly, beating Cuvu Black 17-7, adding a sweet touch to their tournament journey which had seen some prior challenges.

Pat Spellman, a representative from Tourism HQ, which played a pivotal role in organizing the event, emphasized the importance of the tournament for fostering connections among local and international teams.

Looking ahead, the Fijian Cup will continue next week with rugby league nines also taking place at Lawaqa Park, promising even more thrilling action for rugby fans.
