“Fijian Authorities Target ‘Big Fish’ in Illicit Trade”

Fijian authorities are closely monitoring several major figures involved in the country’s illicit drug trade. Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua stated during an appearance on The Lens@177 that significant arrests have been made in Nadi. However, he acknowledged the challenges faced in conducting successful raids, often due to suspects being tipped off in advance.

Tikoduadua emphasized that despite such setbacks, Fiji’s law enforcement remains vigilant. He stressed that authorities strictly adhere to the rule of law and assured that Fiji operates under a rule-based order, distancing itself from any dictatorial practices.

The minister reiterated the ongoing commitment to combating the drug menace, acknowledging that while it may never be completely eradicated, the situation can be managed. He called on parents, religious organizations, and community leaders to contribute to this effort, alongside the government.

In conclusion, Tikoduadua affirmed that the fight against drugs is a collective responsibility and assured that authorities are not giving up.
