Fijian chartered accountant Rishneel Deo has been honored with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) 2024 Group Member Award, recognizing his commitment, professional excellence, and contributions to the accounting field. The award was presented in Suva last week by the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA), a partner of the IPA Group.
Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Deo shared, “Receiving the IPA Rising Professional of the Year award is an incredible honour and a truly humbling experience.” He highlighted the significance of this recognition not only for himself but as a reflection of the support from his colleagues, mentors, and family, motivating him to continue striving for excellence and inspire others.
Currently, Mr. Deo serves as the financial controller at Digicel Pacific, overseeing financial operations and strategies in multiple markets. His ability to adopt new skills while taking on greater responsibilities has positioned him as a role model for aspiring professionals.
“My drive to excel is rooted in a genuine passion for what I do and a desire to challenge myself continuously,” he stated. He emphasized the value of contributing to meaningful projects, leading by example, and making a lasting impact in all the organizations and communities he is involved with. He balances this ambition with an understanding that success also includes personal well-being.
Looking forward, Mr. Deo is open to embracing new challenges, seeking promotions, and expanding his professional network. His dedication to using his skills to benefit his community and the region showcases a hopeful perspective for his future endeavors.
In addition to Mr. Deo’s accomplishments, the IPA Group has been active in strengthening professional partnerships in Fiji. Recently, a revised Mutual Recognition Agreement was signed with FICA to enhance membership pathways for professionals, providing greater access to IPA resources and networks.
Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding was established with Business Assistance Fiji to promote economic growth by offering tailored educational programs for Fiji’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This collaborative spirit underscores a commitment to supporting Fiji’s business community and nurturing the next generation of professionals.
Overall, Mr. Deo’s journey serves as an inspiration not just to the youth of Fiji but also to the broader professional community, affirming that dedication and hard work can lead to significant accomplishments while also lifting others along the way. The collaboration between the IPA and FICA positions both institutions favorably for future advancements and opportunities in the region.
