Fiji Airways Fijian 7s players, Joji Nasova and Iliavi Masori, exhibited remarkable commitment by navigating through floodwaters to reach Suva for their training session on Friday. The duo’s challenging journey began on Thursday night in Toge Village, Ba, where heavy rains had caused significant flooding.

Determined not to skip their training at the High-Performance gym in Suva, Nasova and Masori traversed two flooded bridges under the cover of darkness, eventually arriving in the capital at 3 AM. Despite the exhaustion from their journey, they managed to grab a few hours of rest before heading to the gym to continue their preparations.

Nasova expressed the importance of hard work and sacrifice, stating, “For me personally, I believe I need to work on my fitness and prepare well for the next 7s series round.” The athletes recognized that overcoming such obstacles is essential to representing their nation successfully on the global stage.

Joji Nasova, who made his debut for Fiji during the HSBC Hong Kong 7s in April, has quickly gained attention for his dynamic playing style, featuring explosive runs and hard-hitting tackles. The Fiji 7s team is gearing up to compete in the Perth 7s tournament in Australia from January 26-28, where they will face formidable teams including New Zealand, France, and Samoa in their pool.

The effort and determination displayed by Nasova and Masori serve as a testament to the athletes’ dedication and resilience as they prepare for this exciting tournament. Their perseverance not only reflects their personal commitment but also inspires fans and aspiring athletes alike to overcome challenges in pursuit of their goals.
