Fiji Airways Fijian 7s players Joji Nasova and Iliavi Masori demonstrated remarkable commitment as they navigated through floodwaters on Thursday night to make it to Suva for a crucial training session. The pair’s journey commenced from Toge Village in Ba, where heavy rainfall resulted in significant flooding in the region.

Determined to not let the adverse weather conditions hinder their preparation, they crossed two flooded bridges in darkness, making their way to the capital for training at the High-Performance gym. Nasova, 24, reflected on his experience, emphasizing the values of hard work and sacrifice.

The journey was no easy feat; they reached Suva by 3 am on Friday after facing treacherous conditions. Despite little rest, they managed to catch a few hours of sleep before heading to the gym, showcasing their commitment to their fitness and preparation for the upcoming 7s series.

“When we came out of Ba Town at midnight, we saw it was flooded. But we knew that to achieve our aim, we needed to sacrifice and give our best for the next series,” Nasova commented. They believe no challenge is insurmountable when it comes to representing Fiji on an international platform.

Nasova’s dedication has garnered attention, as he made his debut during the HSBC Hong Kong 7s in April and quickly established himself with impressive performances. The Fiji 7s team is gearing up for the Perth 7s, set to take place from January 26-28, where they will compete against strong teams, including New Zealand, France, and Samoa in Pool C.
