Fiji Young Kulas Set to Make History at FIFA U20 World Cup

The Fiji Young Kulas are set to compete against Brazil tomorrow in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup with clear goals in mind. Assistant Coach Annette Nainima expressed their desire to excel and to achieve their first-ever World Cup goal. She remarked that it would be a proud moment for her, the players, and the officials involved, highlighting the significance of participating in the tournament.

“It’s our first World Cup, and being able to share these experiences with our families, children, and loved ones is monumental,” Nainima stated. She emphasized that few had anticipated the Fiji women’s team would reach the World Cup, yet here they are, ready to compete.

Nainima also noted the pride their families back home feel and the anticipation of watching their matches live on television. “We’re just going to give our best,” she concluded.

Fiji will face Brazil in their opening World Cup match at 11 am on Sunday, September 1, followed by games against Canada at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 4, and France at 10 am on Saturday, September 7, all in Fiji time.
