The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas faced a difficult challenge in their second match at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, suffering a 0-9 defeat to a strong Canadian team.
Despite their determined effort, similar to their match against Brazil, the Canadian team’s prowess proved to be too much for the Young Kulas. Canada swiftly asserted dominance, taking a 7-0 lead by halftime.
Although the score was heavily skewed, 15-year-old Fijian goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma shone brightly, making several crucial saves and demonstrating her potential under challenging circumstances.
Fiji’s defense, while showing resilience, found it hard to cope with the relentless attacks from the Canadian side.
The Young Kulas will now focus on preparing for their final group stage match against France.
