Fiji Young Kulas: A Proud Journey Beyond the Scoreboard

The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas encountered a significant challenge at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, experiencing a substantial 11-0 loss to France in their concluding pool match this past Saturday. Although the team did not achieve a victory in any of their pool games, they remain hopeful and proud of their efforts.

Reflecting on their experience, 19-year-old Priya Singh expressed her pride in the team’s resilience and determination. She highlighted the important lessons and experiences gained from competing against some of the top teams in the world.

“After the match, I can say I’m proud of the girls. This is our first time in the tournament, and they fought hard to the end. I’m very grateful we got this opportunity,” said Singh.

She views this tournament as a foundation for the team’s future growth and development in upcoming competitions. “It is really a learning experience for us, playing against world-class teams. This is a great opportunity, and we will learn a lot from our first World Cup,” she added.

As the team readies to return to Fiji next week, they will be joined by three players: goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma, forwards Asenaca Naio and Elesi Tabunase, along with defender Aleeza Raza, who currently plays in Australia.
