The Digicel Fiji Women’s Futsal team is ready to face Tahiti today at 5 PM in the first OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup 2024 in the Solomon Islands. Led by head coach Jerry Sam, the team has been formed with top talents from across Fiji, aiming to make a strong impression in the tournament. Sam acknowledged the difficulty of choosing players given the rich talent pool available in Fiji but expressed confidence in the team’s abilities to perform well on the field.
The tournament features five teams, with Fiji scheduled to compete against Tonga tomorrow, New Zealand on Monday, and the host country, Solomon Islands, on Thursday. The team’s primary objective is to win the tournament, as it would grant them the chance to represent Oceania in the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines next year.
