The Digicel Fiji Women’s Futsal team is set to face Tahiti today at 5pm during the inaugural OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup 2024 in the Solomon Islands. Head coach Jerry Sam has assembled a talented roster from across Fiji, hoping to make a strong impression in the tournament.
Choosing players was a challenging task due to the wealth of talent available in Fiji, but Sam is confident in the abilities of those selected and anticipates they will excel on the field.
The tournament features five teams, and Fiji’s upcoming matches include Tonga tomorrow, New Zealand on Monday, and the host nation, Solomon Islands, on Thursday. The team’s primary objective is to secure victories in the tournament and gain the chance to represent Oceania at the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in the Philippines next year.
