The Fiji Women’s Futsal team finished as runners-up in the inaugural OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup after a challenging loss to New Zealand in the final match held in the Solomon Islands on Sunday.

Fiji started the game strong but faced difficulties in the second half, allowing New Zealand to gain control and dominate the match. New Zealand opened the scoring early with a goal from Hannah Kraakman, followed by a powerful shot from Libby Boobyer from the edge of the box, extending their lead. Just before halftime, Fiji’s Koleta Likuculacula found the net with an impressive left-footed strike, bringing the score to 2-1 in favor of New Zealand.

In the second half, New Zealand continued their dominance, with goals from Tessa Leong, Libby Boobyer, Jordana Bremner, and Dayna Manak, sealing a 6-1 victory.

With this win, New Zealand claimed the title and secured a place in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, which will be held in the Philippines.
