Weather Update

First things first: we’re waving goodbye to the strong winds that were whipping around the land areas of Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, and a few other charming spots. But don’t tuck your raincoat away just yet! A heavy rain warning is still in effect, covering the northern and eastern divisions and now stretching across the whole Fiji Group. An active trough is sliding around like a snail on a lazy Sunday morning, bringing along a smorgasbord of clouds and showers that will continue to spoil our sunshine until later tomorrow. So if you’re hoping for dry skies, it might be time to reschedule that picnic.
Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect until midnight tomorrow: you might want to get cozy indoors as we brace ourselves for more heavy rain and the occasional thunderstorm. Flood-prone areas, be aware – you might want to trade in your flip-flops for a kayak! The rain will start to tone it down tomorrow, easing into more manageable showers.
And now, let’s preview the forecast for Friday:
– For our friends in Navua, Suva, and Nausori: brace yourselves for a bit of heavy rain and some rumbles of thunder. The good news? Those downpours will ease up by tomorrow, leaving you with a max temperature of 28 degrees. Not too shabby!
– In Sigatoka and along the Coral Coast, prepare for splashes of heavy rain. But fear not, things will dry up a bit tomorrow with a max of 30 degrees.
– Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba are also in the heavyweight rain ring. Expect thunderstorms galore today, gradually transitioning to showers tomorrow. You’ll reach a toasty max of 30 degrees.
– Tavua and Rakiraki will see similar weather, but put a smile on your face as tomorrow promises some sunny spells with a max hit of 31 degrees!
– Over in Labasa and Savusavu, you’re also looking at heavy rain followed by showers. Pack away those sandals, you might want some waterproof footwear!
– The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups will join the heavy rain festivities, with a hint of sunshine peeking through on Friday.
– Rotuma, you’re in for a bit of rough seas and wild winds today – time to hold onto your hats, folks! The heavy rain’s sticking around with some thunderclaps to keep things lively.
