The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was officially inaugurated today by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
During the opening ceremony, President Katonivere extended a warm welcome to 12 female and 24 male competitors from 12 different nations, wishing them success in the competition.
He recognized the efforts of the organizers and highlighted the hard work, dedication, and investment that facilitated the hosting of this World Tour Competition in Fiji.
“Surfing, like any other sport, is fueled by passion. In the coming days, we will come together not only to witness remarkable displays of athletic skill and elegance but also to celebrate a sport that captures the joy of riding waves and the profound connection between humanity and nature,” President Katonivere stated.
He also congratulated Fiji’s wildcard entrant, Tevita Gukilau, who will represent the country, and expressed optimism that more local talents will have the opportunity to compete alongside international athletes in the future.
