Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for Home Affairs, traveled to Australia on Thursday to officially accept a replacement for the decommissioned Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Navy Ship, RFNS Puamau. The original vessel tragically ran aground on Fulaga Reef, Lau, during a routine journey on June 10, shortly after having been donated by the Australian government.

The new addition to Fiji’s naval fleet, named RFNS Timo, is a Guardian-class patrol boat, reflecting a significant upgrade in maritime capabilities. Minister Tikoduadua emphasized that the acquisition of this new vessel significantly enhances Fiji’s ability to secure its waters, protect its rich natural resources, and contribute to regional stability.
