Fiji has welcomed its newest Cabinet Minister, Hon. Sashi Kiran, who took her oath of office today as the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection. The ceremony, held at the State House, was presided over by His Excellency the President, Turaga Bale Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
Minister Kiran steps into her new role following the tenure of Lynda Tabuya, having previously served as the Assistant Minister to Tabuya. Kiran comes with extensive experience in social work, having founded FRIEND Fiji—the Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development—in Lautoka, which demonstrates her commitment to community welfare.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad, indicating strong governmental support for Kiran’s new role.
This transition in leadership reflects a continued dedication to uplifting the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable populations in Fiji, fostering hope for meaningful changes in the social landscape of the nation. Kiran’s background and passion for social work position her well to make a significant impact in her new role.
