Fiji has welcomed its newest Cabinet Minister, Hon. Sashi Kiran, who took her oath today to become the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection. The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by His Excellency the President, Turaga Bale Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at the State House.
Minister Kiran steps into this role following her predecessor, Lynda Tabuya, after previously serving as Assistant Minister to Tabuya. With a deep background in social work, Kiran is known for her commitment to community development, having founded FRIEND Fiji—an NGO based in Lautoka focused on rural integrated enterprises and development.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, highlighting the significance of this transition within the government.
This appointment is a positive step for Fiji, as it strengthens its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and promoting social welfare through experienced leadership.
