Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, has been designated as the new President of the Republic of Fiji Islands after a successful vote in Parliament today. The appointment comes as a result of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka proposing Ratu Naiqama for the role, while Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu put forward Ratu Meli Tora Tavaiqia as his candidate.
