Rokoseru Nabalarua has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the State of Israel to the Republic of Fiji, a milestone celebrated yesterday in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and H.E. Roi Rosenblit, Israel’s Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific. Nabalarua, who holds the position of chair at Energy Fiji Limited, received his certificate of appointment, marking a significant boost in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
This development follows Fiji’s commitment to establishing an embassy in Jerusalem, representing a historic advancement in their international relations that began in 1970. The collaboration has focused on critical areas such as security, agriculture, education, and climate change.
Ambassador Rosenblit expressed his congratulations to Nabalarua, highlighting his confidence in Nabalarua’s potential to deepen bilateral relations. In turn, Nabalarua expressed his gratitude and commitment to effectively handle the responsibilities of his new role.
In light of this appointment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence in Fiji will coordinate efforts to move forward with establishing the embassy in Jerusalem following a Cabinet decision. This relationship between Fiji and Israel, especially with initiatives like the embassy opening, points towards a hopeful future anchored in strategic partnerships aimed at addressing shared challenges.
Furthermore, this evolving partnership illustrates a proactive approach to diplomacy, reinforcing both countries’ dedication to fostering collaboration across various sectors, thereby ensuring mutual benefits and a positive trajectory in their relationship.
