Justice Salesi Temo has officially taken the oath as Fiji’s new Chief Justice. The swearing-in ceremony took place today at the State House, where he executed both the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Due Execution of Judicial Office in front of President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. The event was attended by notable figures such as Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Speaker of Parliament Filimone Jitoko, Cabinet Ministers, members of the Judiciary, and Permanent Secretaries.
Prior to this appointment, Chief Justice Temo has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice since January 2023. He brings with him a wealth of experience, accumulating over thirty years within the judicial system. Temo initially joined the Judiciary in 1994 as a Resident Magistrate and became the Chief Magistrate from 1997 to 2000. His judicial journey further includes serving as a Puisne Judge of the High Court since June 2009, along with roles in both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
This milestone in Fiji’s judicial leadership not only underscores Justice Temo’s dedication to the law but also promises to bring stability and guidance to the nation’s judicial system.
