Justice Salesi Temo was officially sworn in as Fiji’s new Chief Justice today. The ceremony took place at the State House, where he took his Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Due Execution of Judicial Office in front of President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Speaker of Parliament Filimone Jitoko, and other esteemed members of the government and judiciary.
Having served as Acting Chief Justice since January 2023, Justice Temo brings a wealth of experience to his new role, accumulated over three decades within the judicial system. His career began in 1994 as a Resident Magistrate, and he has held various positions including Chief Magistrate from 1997 to 2000, Puisne Judge of the High Court from June 2009, and has also served in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
Justice Temo’s appointment is a significant step for Fiji’s legal community, promising continued integrity and leadership within the judiciary. His extensive background positions him well to navigate the challenges ahead and uphold the principles of justice in the nation.
