Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya has been appointed as Fiji’s Ambassador Designate to the United Arab Emirates. The commissioning ceremony was led by Fiji’s President, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, who congratulated Ambassador Koya on his new diplomatic role and wished him success.
This appointment is expected to create more opportunities to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Fiji and the UAE. Ambassador Koya expressed gratitude to the Fijian government for trusting him in this position.
Before his new role, Ambassador Koya worked as a Barrister and Solicitor and was the Deputy Chairman of Biosecurity Fiji. He earned a Bachelor of Laws with Honors and a Diploma in Higher Education in Law from the University of Wolverhampton in the UK in 1993, and later obtained a Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania in 1995.
Ambassador Koya has been a member of the High Court of Fiji since 1999 and has handled various cases, including criminal, civil, domestic violence, and family law matters. The commissioning ceremony was also attended by Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala.
