Fiji Welcomes Home Music Legend: The Unforgettable Veikoso Concert

Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, special administrator of the Nadi Town Council, announced that final preparations for the event are currently taking place.

Mr. Raiwalui mentioned that this concert aims to introduce a new style for events in Nadi. “This show will bring a different taste, the sound of the Pacific carrying the spirit of Fiji,” he stated. He expressed excitement about hosting the event in Nadi, noting that while the concert organizers will cover all expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council is preparing to manage parking, with Koroivolu Park also serving as additional space.

He emphasized that the council is eager to collaborate with musicians for future events, indicating a willingness to make this concert an annual affair.

The concert marks the return of Mr. Veikoso to his homeland after 40 years of showcasing Pacific music globally. He shared that this homecoming is more than a mere concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that connects us all. For four decades, I have had the privilege of carrying the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences across the globe,” he said. He looks forward to sharing his musical journey alongside renowned artists J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.

Mr. Veikoso expressed that this event is not only a celebration of his return but also a tribute to the unifying power of music, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees.

A spokesperson from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the concert, highlighting its potential to celebrate Mr. Veikoso’s talent while promoting Fiji’s lively musical scene. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to boost our local economy, grow a sense of community, and showcase Fiji’s unique offerings to international visitors,” they stated.

Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999VIP. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz voiced his support, saying he is willing to pay for a chance to see performers like Pojie, Josh, and Maoli. He credited Mr. Veikoso for representing Fijian music on the global stage and encouraged people to attend the concert, emphasizing that it’s going to be an epic event.

The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
