Fiji Welcomes Home Music Legend: George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso’s Epic Concert

Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, confirmed that final preparations for the event are nearly complete.

Mr. Raiwalui noted that the concert aims to initiate a new era for events in Nadi. “This show will provide a unique experience, capturing the sound of the Pacific and embodying the spirit of Fiji,” he remarked. He added that while the organizers will cover the costs associated with using Prince Charles Park, the council will only manage parking arrangements, with plans to also utilize Koroivolu Park for additional space.

The concert symbolizes Mr. Veikoso’s return home after four decades of sharing Pacific music globally. He expressed that this homecoming is more than merely a concert. “It’s a celebration of our roots, culture, and the music that binds us together. For 40 years, I’ve had the honor of presenting the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific to audiences worldwide. Now, I’m excited to return home and share the music that has defined my life’s work with extraordinary artists such as J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi,” he stated.

He emphasized that the event will celebrate not just his homecoming, but also the unifying, inspiring, and uplifting power of music. “This gathering pays tribute to our shared heritage, and I eagerly await this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.

A spokesperson for Tourism Fiji expressed excitement about the concert, noting, “George Fiji Veikoso’s Homecoming Concert is a remarkable celebration of his immense talent while also highlighting Fiji’s vibrant music scene.” They mentioned that this event presents an excellent opportunity to stimulate the local economy, foster community spirit, and showcase Fiji’s unique culture to international visitors.

Tickets for the concert are priced between $79 and $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz commented on the event, stating, “I’m willing to pay to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I’m grateful that these talented musicians are coming without major business sponsorship, relying solely on their talent and hard work.”

“I will attend to support Pojie and honor him as a beacon in the music world. It’s going to be an epic event. If you can make it, don’t miss out, but if you can’t, don’t feel bad. I hope to see you in Nadi,” he expressed.

The concert will take place on September 14 and 15.
