Fijian weightlifter Apakuki Tabuawaiwai is determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming season, following a challenging start last year. At just 24 years old, Tabuawaiwai took a break from the sport for several months but is now committed to enhancing his performance as he approaches the 2026 competition year.

Reflecting on his journey, he expresses gratitude for the opportunity to continue his athletic career. “First of all, I would like to thank the Lord for giving me another year. Looking back at 2025, it was quite good. I had a break at the start of the year before making a comeback and competing in a major tournament in India,” he shared.

Throughout his career, Tabuawaiwai has represented Fiji in numerous prestigious events, including the Commonwealth Championships and the Pacific Games. With a clear understanding of the effort required to excel in his weight class, he is setting ambitious goals for 2026. He aims to compete in at least four international tournaments to further showcase his skills and dedication to the sport.

With a mindset focused on improvement and commitment, Tabuawaiwai is poised to elevate his performance and continue representing Fiji on the global stage. His journey stands as an inspiring testament to resilience and determination in the pursuit of excellence.
